Smaller than it looks in the photo. There is a spring inside that You are required to take out before 1st use. It sprang out of the product to what it looks like an oblivioun. I turned on the product without said spring, it has not started steaming for close to 2 hours it was turned on. I'll give a try with an another spring and let know how it went
